Here at Label MāYu, to provide our customers with sustainable and biodegradable fashion choices, we follow an all-natural process flow for the making of our garments. We also believe in transparency in our system and production.
At the very first step of creating the best sustainable clothes for you, the fabric received is carefully sourced from reliable manufacturers and verified to be natural and sustainable. We ensure that the fabric, and all the other raw materials required are made under ethical work conditions. For our first collection, we have sourced the fabric through https://www.hpsingh.com/ to ensure that the fabric is coming from a credible source. We are currently using organic cotton fabric manufactured under GOTS certifications.
In the second step, to avoid use of any toxic chemicals in our garments, we hand dye them using natural dyes sourced from “Genie in my Bottle” https://www.trydyeing.com/ who make the dyes using natural raw materials and no preservatives. In the process, creative and simplistic tie and dye designs are also made on the fabric. We also have a strict policy regarding responsible use of dyes and other raw materials. The water used in dyeing is stored and reused, thus minimizing our water footprint.
Fabric is then cut, stitched and finished sustainably and ethically. To wash the garment once before it is finished and packed, we use cold water to keep our carbon footprint low. We use eco-friendly liquid detergent made by “The Better Home” https://shop.thebetterindia.com/ which is made using natural ingredients and releases no toxic chemicals on use, also keeping the garments completely chemical free during the entire process.
In the last step, that is packaging, the paper covers and the care label are made using recycled paper, sourced from Rickshaw Recycle http://xylem.in/ . Minimalistic and careful packaging is done so that you can reuse it for other purposes as well.
